GfK Consumer Confidence Index July 2024

• GfK’s Consumer Confidence Index increased one point in the month to -13 in July.
• Two measures were up, one was down and two were unchanged compared with last month.

General economic situation 

• Consumers’ measure of the general economic situation over the last 12 months is unchanged at -32. This is 26 points higher than a year ago in July 2023.
• Expectations for the general economic situation over the coming 12 months are also unchanged at -11. This is 22 points above last year’s level.

Personal finances

• The personal finances index covering the last 12 months is up two points in the month to -8, 12 points higher than a year ago.
• The forward-looking measure for personal finances over the next 12 months decreased one point to +3, which is 10 points higher than the same time last year.

Major purchases

• The Major Purchase Index is up seven points to -16. This is 16 points higher than the same month a year ago.

Savings Index (not included in the overall measure) 

• The Savings Index rose five points to +27 in June. This is one point higher than a year ago.
