GfK Consumer Confidence Index September 2023
- GfK’s Consumer Confidence Index increased four points in September to -21.
- All five measures were up compared with last month.
General economic situation
- Consumers’ measure of the general economic situation over the last 12 months is up five points at -47. This is 25 points higher than the same month a year ago.
- Expectations for the general economic situation over the coming 12 months increased by six points to -24. This is 44 points higher than the same month a year ago.
Personal finances
- The personal finances index covering the last twelve months increased two points to -13, 15 points better than a year ago.
- The forward-looking measure for personal finances over the next twelve months increased one point to -2, which is 38 points higher than the same time last year.
Major purchases
- The Major Purchase Index increased four points to -20. This is 25 points higher than the same month a year ago.
Savings Index (not included in the overall measure)
- The Savings Index was unchanged at +27. This is 16 points higher than a year ago.
